Do you wish to contribute to Swakanthey (in our own voice)?


We welcome articles, short stories, poetries, short dramas, graphic stories, narrative illustrations, artworks relevant to gender-sexuality. The entries can be in Bengali and/or English. Your creation should not be published anywhere before or not under consideration for publication anywhere else.

                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Please go through the following steps prior to sending your creation:

  • Word limit of articles/short stories/short dramas is counted in multiples of 500 e.g. 500,1000,1500 but not exceeding 2000. The word limit includes the body text, the title, author(s) name, references, footnotes and a one/two line bio-note of the author(s). 
  • We welcome all kinds of poetry, including shape poetry. Please be mindful of the justification (formatting) while submitting shape poetry. Poetry pieces do not have any strict word limit. However, they cannot exceed one page of a Google doc page/ Microsoft word page.
  • Artworks must be of high resolution and either in landscape or portrait dimensions. Artworks can be black and white or in color but color images may be converted into greyscale mode while printing depending on the fund availability.
  • Graphic stories and narrative illustrations must be of high resolution and in portrait dimension in a single A3 size page. They may be in color or black and white. Again color images may be converted into greyscale mode while printing depending on the fund availability.

  • Submission of any content doesn't guarantee publication.
  • Submitted content will go through review and selection process.
  • The final decision remains in the hands of the Swakanthey Editorial Team.
  • If selected, Swakanthey Editorial Team will send the first draft for editing to the author after proofreading.
  • Any and all changes made to the original submission will be in consultation with the author.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Content should abide by the following guidelines:

  • We do not publish any direct/overt anti-government or anti-fascist content
  • We do not publish any religious content
  • We do not promote any form of hate/violation/violence 
  • We do not publish any commercial product promotion or marketing related pieces
  • The Publisher or the Editorial Team will not be held legally responsible should there be any controversy about the authour's/creator's opinions/views on any political issues
